Back on the start line!

It’s kinda the same one too! 6th consolidation run was uneventful and run at what I’ll now refer to as recovery pace. Lovely mid morning run and very quiet in the park today, just me, the ducks and two dog walkers.

So, now I start the road to 5k, starting at 5k 😂. Following a race plan as of Wednesday and will see what the old legs can do. I’m strangely looking forward to some sprint sessions, and my plan has obligingly served up 6x200m in the middle of next week. Also looking forwards to slowly increasing the long run to 5.75 miles before Christmas... that may become 6.25 to do the 10k 😈

I also realised I’ve now been running for 5 months in total, some of that was before I found C25K and maybe i shouldn’t count it, but I’m gonna! Those runs really were a car crash and a half... I’d have given up if I hadn’t walked a parkrun and been told about this plan.

Anyone just starting out... this is the right plan to become a runner with, and this is the right group of people to be around while doing it. Thanks again to everyone who’s inspired me on my journey so far. Let’s run together lots.

I was just going to PM you as not seen you post lately. Just as I'm about to press send, I got an email saying you'd posted!!

Glad to see you're planning your schedule, and knowing you, it'll work. Keep at it!!

Cheers... I’ve been on a bit, think I missed a run off my posts. I can totally do that position in the photo too... I can show any of you that I meet... will just need you and three of four friends to lift me into it and catch me about 5 seconds after letting go!

Good luck with the race plan x you seem to have got the consolidation runs sussed.

I want to thank you for all your inspiring comments. You do a great job of paying back by being supportive throughout this forum 👏👏👏

Sounds brilliant UNM!! You so should count all of your running and be very proud of not giving up but finding a different plan that has worked so well for you. 🤩 As an ex-runner getting back to it must feel fantastic too. I look forward to reading about your continued running adventures VRB!! 🤗😍❤️

It’s like I was never away... obviously someone stole my speed, but I don’t care. You can now laugh at me this Friday... I have a benchmark run 😱

Aaah I love benchmark! It’s a nice fast, but short run. 😁😁❤️

Thanks... it’s gonna be fun... some sessions look painful, but I know nothing compares to W1R1!

Well done. Like you I plan to keep consolidating 5K for another month, build up a little more strength, then I’ll start extending a run too and do some speed work at the track.

Get back up to 10K in the new year and work on a sub 30 min Parkrun. Will hopefully next summer fingers crossed be into PB territory again. Reading your posts will keep me motivated.

Well done and great plan! I’ll be right behind you on the mileage. Or maybe ahead 🤔 You will whoop me on the speed but I am ok with that. ☺️

Thanks... if we ever ran together then we’d be the same speed and distance anyway 😀

The call of medals is getting louder I hear... 😸

Well... I imagine that I’ll be too drunk by the end of my marathon to notice the medal, consume the boxed bottle of wine or maybe even don the shirt 😂

I don’t know that other than that I’ll ever enter a race as such... but I will be posting on here about booking time to see if anyone else fancies the most ridiculous way to do 26.2 that I can find.
