Well I did it!! Feeling fabulous about it. My legs know about it now and towards the end of each run, for the first time I really felt a burn sensation in my chest - can anyone reassure me and tell me what that is and that it's "normal" - I'm telling myself that it is a sign of progress and pushing myself, therefore getting fitter when this happens?!

Well done.

A burning sensation in your chest probably means you are pushing too hard. Your body adapts better to the demands put on it when you run slowly, which is what all new runners should be doing all the time.

Yes, I know you want to get faster, but the more you push, the nearer you are to injury threshold and if your body develops more efficiently while running slowly, why take the risk.

Keep running, keep smiling.

Thank you but that's a bit worrying because if I go any slower I'd be walking πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

I would say.. slow down.. maybe pushing too hard.. slightly too enthusiastic. There is no such thing as too slow either.. as long as you ain't walking :)

Up the rest day exercise a bit on rest days too... as the runs get longer you need to make sure that your strength and stamina keep pace with your legs!

Thank you Oldfloss - I'm also wondering if it was the cold air as the wind was in my face at the end of each run - I'll try to slow but as I said above, any slower and I'd be walking anyway!! I'm really taking it slow and steady πŸ‘
