Having a week off 😥

Did my 1st park run last week & then felt a bit deflated. Decided to have a week off & find my mojo next week.

Agreed to another park run with my friend too! Sub 40 mins this time!

Just keep it steady.. at this stage..Week 8? You have time for speed after Graduation.

If you move too fast too soon you do risk injury...often hidden.. but still there.

Don't worry about Parkrun times. I did a few Parkruns but found I enjoyed running by myself more, without the "competition ".

C25k is not about speed but about establishing a regular habit of running safely 3 times a week. Mojos do have a habit of going awol from time to time. You just need to persevere and maybe mix things up a bit and it will soon come out from wherever it's hiding to find you. Try a different route or a new playlist or even running at a different time of day to see if that makes a difference. Or treat yourself to a new piece of running kit, , maybe something for these chilly days such as gloves or a warmer top or something snazzy that you'll want to wear out (as well as get your money's worth from).

I hope your Mojo finds you soon. 👍🏽

I didn't do my first park run until well after I had graduated and knew that I was comfortable doing a 5k.

At the moment you are building your time to running 5k, so don't be disheartened that you were running with others who were further ahead than you. They have just been running for longer, that's all!

Oh I’m sorry the mojo has gone. Get out there and it will reappear I’m sure.

Try not to worry about the Parkrun, I searched for one with slow times as my local one has even the end runners doing sub-35. The one I do I’m very near the back but I don’t feel it’s v competitive, it’s all very supportive.

One of the guys at the front was clapping me and congratulating me as he was lapping me ☺️

It wasn't the time that stopped me it was just, well feeling like I'd done it & what do I do now? I'm focusing on time as my motivation to spur me on!

My friend jogged around with me (she does sub 25 normally) kept me going, others were fab, volunteers were fab. I sprinted the last bit! Wasn't bothered by being lapped just wanted to do it.

You sounded pleased to have completed your first parkrun, so why are you feeling deflated?

I don't know when you graduated, but do remember that C25K is only a training plan to get you started as a runner. It will take many months, if not years, of regular running until you can begin to consider yourself an experienced runner, but ingraining the habit after graduation is crucial, so don't take too much time off.

That said, it is considered good practice for all runners to take a break from running every few months. You will return reinvigorated and raring to go and I have found that most of my PBs have come after a rest from running.
