Running in a group!

Today I ran with my son and his girlfriend. They made me push through the pain and the breathlessness when I wanted to give in. I managed some 3 minute runs and 5 minute runs. Feel very proud of my accomplishments. 😊

Well done, lovely run! Remember to remain slow and steady to build and guard against injury at this early stage.

Are you following the programme? If so which week are you on?

I am in my second week but started on week 4 today as my son has been coaching me and pushing me on. I am very much listening to my body and so far all good. I know I should not do this but today was the best run so far.. I am following the programme but being naughty.. I have good running shoes and knee supports.. I will fall back into line now as the rest of the runs will run in line with what I want to achieve by the end of the month.:-))

Hey ... savour the accomplishment and know you can do it when the time comes, but I have to warn you ... the body doesn't always tell you everything is it doing. For instance ... your bones get stronger through running, but before they rebuild stronger, they break down a bit first - like demolishing an old building before building a better one in place. You can't easily "feel" that happening and if you push too hard at a critical time...

It's even more misleading when we get a bit fitter - with fewer aches and pains it can be v tempting to push on x

Don’t rush it!! The programme is 9 weeks Mum for a reason. Just go at a steady pace and enjoy it. 😜

Having good running shoes & knee supports isn't an excuse to rush the programme along, regardless of your son's so called coaching, you'd be better off running c25k properly on your own your way and not influenced by others (although well meant) or keep trying to run through pain and risk the injury couch.

Not what you're looking for?
