Keeping on running

Hello, everyone!

I graduated on 9th November and since then I’ve been running every other day. I do thirty minute runs with a 5K every third run. Today I ran my first sub-30 minute 5K and I’m still grinning about it!

This running lark is flipping cosmic, innit?

Wow that's awesome! Well done you! :) I graduated on the 27th July and I still can't do a sub 30 5K!! Ha ha, oh well, something tells me I never will, but I happy chugging along - you are so right, it is flipping cosmic!! You are doing a brilliant job :)

Thank you! I didn’t think I’d manage it for another month or so and today I just set out for a thirty minute run without a PB in mind, expecting to do about 4.7K and halfway through my run I was all “Hang on, I reckon today might be the day” and flip me, it was!

Well done.

Always nice to hit a target. Time to set another one.

Your running will benefit if only 20-30% is fast, with the remainder run at a steady conversational pace ie. being able to deliver full sentences in one breath. The slower pace will develop other aspects of your running physiology.

Keep running, keep grinning inanely.

Thank you! You always give such good advice. My next run will be a nice slow one, not that I’m super fast or anything now, but I’m all for that stamina-building. I’ve been exercise-biking on rest days and I think it might be helping to improve my VO2 max thing. (There’s so much to learn with running, isn’t there?)

VERY impressive time. HUGE well done. But do take a total rest day sometimes, your muscles need to repair.

Thank you! And I do, fear not. 😊

cracking stuff, I can't get anywhere close to that time.... Brilliant job!

Thanks! I think all the planets were aligned correctly because I didn’t set out to do this today; I was just going for a normal 30 minute run. 😀
