I have been a good gal by taking a wee stint on the IC, and doing gentle targeted stretches for my poorly hip, and today it felt much better so...of course I leapt out of bed eager to try it out.
I did a lovely 30 minute run, no bother! And covered 4:58km in 30 minutes to boot. Hip was a little twingy, but no real pain, and I gave it a good stretch when I got home. It may flare up again later, I am bracing myself for that, and am not going to run again for at least two days - just focus on strengthening, stretching and some myofascial release of that poor old piriformis.
Slow, steady and sensible - that's me. I am just SO HAPPY I got out there again! It felt good, and it was a beautiful morning for a run, lovely and cold. π
Thank you so much for all your support and kind words through my "darker" moments of despair that I would never run again (drama queen alert!) This saga may not be over, but I am feeling less melodramatic about it. π

Of course Sadie runs, I never doubted you for a second!
I'm so glad you were feeling up to running this morning, and I bet you feel great, right? Even if you're a bit sore, you've beaten the mental side of it, and I'm so proud of you for not giving up
Slow, steady, sensible, and always a graduate, nothing can take that away from you. Enjoy the rest days, keep in touch, yeah?
Thanks Neil. π It did feel really good, and I have that post run glow now that I seem to be addicted to. π You are right of course, having an injury is as much a mental challenge. I am still wearing L plates as far as running is concerned, and am going to learn from this experience.
Keep in touch?! Of course! I am not going anywhere! Got to see you graduate!
Always!! I couldn't not support you now, could I? And now I have this mental image of you running a long with a sign on your back saying "Learner - please pass" I think you're doing really well though. Way more common sense than I have.
The post run glow is great, isn't it? I think I'm addicted too!!
Thanks Virginia. And isn't it weird? it was my best time yet, but I assure you I was not aiming for speed, nor did I feel like I was running any faster than my normal snail pace. Legs felt good and strong though, and my hip was plucky! I hope this was just a blip (the hip). A hip blip. x
I am so glad for you Going through a hip thing myself right now so know the pain and frustration. It's heartening to read of a comeback from it as it gives me hope my own wont be too long now
Thank you, dear John. I wish you a speedy recovery, and am sure you will get there. Running is so weird and wonderful in the lessons it teaches us. Compassion for ourselves and patience, being the most unexpected lessons, I think...
I have only just seen this post Sadie, I am so pleased that you got out there again well done to you!!!! I can just imagine how pleased this made you feel. Great news
Thanks Sadie. I am really focussing on strengthening and stretching on my rest days, and it is really helping! And so happy I am able to run again, yes! What scared me most was my reaction to not being able to run, I think! I am totally hooked. πββοΈπ Stay in touch, graduate! xxx
