...a running shoes savings jar! (Not a book this week, but watch this space next week
Well, this may not be something you need to think about right away, but, it's good to plan ahead!
We all know by now how expensive running shoes can be, so with this in mind, I started a savings jar back in September. For every run under 5k that I do, I pop in £1, for any run over 5k, I pop in £2. You can change this up how you see fit – whilst running C25K it may be more fitting to add 50p or a £1 for every run, as at this stage you are not running for distance. Even if you don't manage to save for the cost of a new pair, whatever you have saved might take the sting out of it when you need to fork out for new ones at some point!
Running shoes do lose their cushioning over time; here's a handy article from Runners World on shoes and how often to change them:
Great idea... I’d need a padlock on mine to stop raiding it and heading to decathlon though 🤣. I’m gonna take the idea though and have the wife hide the cash, then I’ll never find it!
Thanks dear MC. 😘 VERY pleased to hear you are still doing the calf raises! I swear by ‘em. Thinking about it, my calfs are the only part of me I have NOT injured since doing these exercises, so they must work LOL! Calfs of steel! 🦵
Oooh new shoe time! Are you going to stick with On? xxx
