The early weeks are probably making more changes in your body than in any later weeks, when really it is consolidation. So congratulations for pushing through despite not enjoying it.

Each week is a step up, but the last one you completed prepares you. The structure is superb, so trust the plan to have done its work and your amazing body for adapting so quickly to the demands.

As for breathing, forget the counting advice on the app, unless you find it easy, and just breathe as you always have, which is through your mouth when exerting yourself. If you still have trouble, then you are going too fast for your current level of fitness........slow down. You should be able to hold a conversation. If that means you are barely faster than a walk, just fine, do that. You will find it much more enjoyable and it is still building your stamina.

Keep it up, the rewards are amazing.

The best advice I EVER got on here was to slow it right down. This is how we gain stamina and learn to get breathing under control. C25K is all about how long you run for, not how fast. I have followed this faithfully and completed every single run, and after week 2, even started to really enjoy the runs! I am now in week 9. 😊

That being said, you won't enjoy every run. I have had some doozies myself. Sometimes because I wasn't rested enough, sometimes cos I hadn't drank enough water the day before, sometimes for I-don't-know-why. But they are still valuable runs nonetheless. Still building fitness. And when you have a good run? It just feels SO GOOD.

Every step up is manageable, trust me. Trust yourself, and never overthink it! Running is in the head as much as the legs and lungs!

😀🏃‍♀️😘

Yep same best advice for/from me. It was folk here that said for me to slow right down - and guess what? They were right! I always make myself start slower than I think I need to and it’s much better. I usually end up running faster throughout my run because I’ve not knackered myself straight off and I enjoy the whole thing much more now! On Spotify you can find running playlists for every tempo so if you’re finding it hard to slow down and (like me) prefer to run to the beat of music then find a playlist that is a slower tempo and load that up. If you’d rather run without music just keep repeating “slow down” to yourself to remind you! I’m just finishing Week 7 of the programme and never ever thought I’d manage it, but thanks to determination and the encouragement from everyone here, I am totally going to do it and then hit my local park run!!

I heartily agree with this! Slower made for a) a better overall pace b) a more pleasurable run x
