Running Gear in ALDI ...

Aldi have running gear in the stores this week, had a quick look, looks good. Drawstring waist, zipped ankles, and they have matching tops and some top layer clothing, to keep us warm on these cooler nights.

Not long enough in the leg or sleeve for me ... πŸ˜₯πŸ˜‚

Have you tried em on? Deffo do so just to check πŸ™‚

I have one of their compressions tops, a fabbo tee, and my fave a merino long sleeved top. They are beautiful and last and last. my original run top, run fleece and yellow reflective jacket were from Aldi in winter 2013 and they're still looking good. My run jacket and cap, also several seasons old now, are still my go-to items. The jacket was Β£6.99 and the cap, with an led light in the brim, was Β£3.99. The battery has not conked yet ! πŸ˜ƒ

I'll go and have a look see . Thanks for the heads up

Just a thought Christene, some of cycling gear is ok for runners. My merino was billed as a cyclist's base layer πŸ˜ƒ

Good point about the Cycling gear, misswobble. Have. It tried them on, no, just looking at them makes me think, there's stretch, and then there's sstttrrrreeeettttccchh ...

Never though about it before, but do they do returns at ALDI, suppose they will ...

Yes they do returns. But you may be surprised at the sizing, as MissW says, might be worth a try.....they dont stay on the shelf for long mind you!

Cornet-Carolyn profile image

Are they true to size? My latest purchase was a bit on the snug size and not sure if I should buy next size

Christene profile image
ChristeneGraduateβ€’ in reply toCornet-Carolyn

Can't really answer that, you would need a response from someone more qualified to answer, though I can say, I prefer snug to sloppy... can't start loose running gear ... flap flap flap slap slap slap ... πŸ™„πŸ˜‚

I have had ALDI gear before. I like their long compression socks for after a long run.

After a run, that's a good point RFC ... πŸ‘

Yes they are fine about returns. Their clothing bags are pathetic as they have no size details on them and folks have to take them out the bags to find out the size. So, the management would rather folk just buy the item and then retirn it if it doesn't fit as it saves getting unbagged goods all over the place. A bit more care from them in actually having the size clearly visible through the bag wouldn't come amiss amd would save lots of hassle

It always reminds me of a rummage sale, and it's such a shame as the stuff is so good

Compression gear is very tight., hence the name it's deliberately so. Usually found in tights and tops My Aldi compression top is gorgeous ! It is very hot though so only comes out when its taters outside πŸ™‚

The value of the Aldi running gear is amazing. I have all sorts from them over the years and it lasts well.

On 9 November the new Aldi south of Maidstone opens....I will be popping in to check out their gear (and maybe the in store bakery too if they have one).

Isthat on the A229? Or towards Sutton Valence? I live that way and Aldi would be handy!

Langley-Loper profile image
Langley-LoperGraduateβ€’ in reply toGeorgiosA

It's on the A274 between Park Wood and Langley. It's part of the new Langley Park development. I run past it about once a week, keeping an eye on progress!

Great, thank you! Same way as Morrisons for me then, but a bit closer...hope they've got some running gear!

Ha ha! Never bought anything in an Aldi before but now have a bag full of new clothes!

I think I might just relax in my fleece lined trackies @mumof2lauralou! They look rather snuggly! Goodness know what I’ll do with 2 compression tops though! What are they and why do I need them?! Am hoping they’re not as uncomfortable as they sound! :-D

Mumof2lauralou profile image
Mumof2lauralouβ€’ in reply toPrudanced

Hilarious!! I just ate cheesecake wearing my fleece leggings totally useless sports bra and super cheap t shirt and YES running socks (no idea why I need running socks but they said running on the label so had to buy) I passed on the compression top as clueless about what that is too!! Leggings are amazing for couch use (ooops rest day anyone??!!)

Prudanced profile image
PrudancedGraduateβ€’ in reply toMumof2lauralou

Sports bra? My branch didn’t have them. Lucky by the sounds of it! I got 2 compression tops (different sizes in case I don’t like being compressed), 2 pairs socks, leggings & fleecy joggers, and a fleecy top! No sign of the merino tops someone mentioned earlier: they sounded lovely. Bit of a spree, but I’m just starting so I had virtually nothing before!

I got a compression top and tracky bottoms, which I may well not wear unless it's really cold!! The top makes me look very silly :-)

Naff all left in the teeny tiny section of the Brighton branch & looked like the dregs of a jumble sale :( was looking forward to a bargain or two. And a bum covering top, alas, the hunt continues....

Christene profile image
ChristeneGraduateβ€’ in reply toFishypieface

Mine too, I put that post up because it may be of interest (and it looks like it was), but I didn't get anything myself. Had to call back in later, just for milk, but thought, I'll get another top while I'm here ... looked like a flock off Sea Gulls had upturned the bin looking for leftover fish and chips ... alas, there was nothing left in my size .... :-(
