Day 1 , run 1

Bloody hell, 6 weeks without smoking and I've decided to give this a go. 2 problems, cramps in the area of my kidneys and shin splints.

Couldn't get through the entire first run because of cramps so will give it a try day after tomorrow.

Well done on not smoking 👍🏻, take your runs slow and drink water before. Good luck

Well done on giving up smoking 😀you're probably running too fast so just take it steady. Well done 👍

Good for you. I did the first day today too. In the rain, so there were fewer witnesses!

Welcome.. well done and slow down:)

You body will be in shock.. so.. give it a chance. Take it really, really slow.. hydrate well and really try to land lightly and gently.

Follow the plan.... take rest days, ( but with some non impact exercise on those days) and just be kind to yourself. You are doing a terrific thing... and we will support you every step pf the way:)

Dadbod listen to Oldfloss her mentor advice is the best! Cramps can be caused by being dehydrated, so make sure you drink plenty of water the day before your run too. Shin splints - I suffered when first started, try some stretching exercises and make sure your footwear is supportive. As our mentor said your body will be saying ‘????!!!’ so be gentle and take it slow! Well done for ditching the fags! This community is very supportive, you can even ask questions without being judged on here. I’m 5 weeks and the support on here has at times kept me going when I felt like I’d failed and congratulated me when I’ve felt pleased with myself! Keep us updated on your progress
