Did W6R2 this evening, and I can tell you. I found it hard, not sure if my legs were still reeling after the punishment of Mondays run followed by a 200 mile motorbike ride to Blackpool and back ... it after the first 10 minute run I was thinking "I'll be alright after this recovery walk". Well, not long into the second 10 minute run... my legs were feeling quite 'used' and they were definitely made of something more flexible than bones, they felt like rubber ... but, with 6 minutes still to go I was determined I was going to continue and finish the run, and I did, fair enough I was counting down the minutes, but I was still running, and those minutes were ticking by ... I did it, the 10 minutes were up and I had run all the way, and not even slowed my pace.
Friday will be a very light jog, don't want to overdo things as its my sponsored run on Sunday ...
Will be keeping you posted about that too ...k

I think the program is catching up with me, since I started I have followed the guidelines, prescriptively, run day, rest day, run day, rest day, not missed a day yet, even when I went to Spain.
If it wasn't for my sponsored run on Sunday, I think I'd continue and do the W6R3 on Friday, but can't afford to jeopardise my Sunday run, so ... a light jog on Friday and a steady run on Sunday ... complete the W6R3 on Tuesday and I'm back on track .... there's a plan in there somewhere, and the lighter runs will give my legs a rest without them forgetting what they should be doing ....
Mate, I'm a bit OCD (shhhh, keep that one to yourself) and would be VERY prescriptive with any program that gave me a 'recipe' to follow. However, I've had times when my body has said "Whoa, too much"..!! and I've had to repeat a run a couple of times to get my 'umph' back. We all have a lot going on in our lives and sometimes we don't quite feel 'it'. You are doing so well and have achieved so much with this program.... you ran when you went to Spain, you run when you've done miles and miles on your motorbike, you're doing a sponsored 5K.... don't be so hard on yourself..!! You are moving forward every day. An extra rest day here and there, a slower pace here and there is no hardship, in fact it will probably be of benefit to you. Don't push yourself before Sunday, you want to enjoy it and look amazing in those tights and fancy pants (oh I wish I could be there π). Revel in what you have done... what you are doing... and be kind to yourself π
Thanks, you're never short of a great, reassuring and supportive comment. I am doing well, as are all of us, a bit of self-awareness wouldn't go amiss so that we actually see what we have done ...
I have a good dose of OCD myself, hence the regimented approach to the program, but when I look back ... the coughing and wheezing through that very first run is not that far back, so progress have been great, and you are spot on, the extra rest day will do me no harm whatsoever ....
Got my gear lined up for Sunday, will get my kids, lol (youngest is 20), to take some photos ....
I try to be aware of what my body is telling me but, most of the time, I tell it to 'pipe down and get on with it' π
W5R3 for me later (that dreaded 20 minutes) - but as it's my daughter's 28th birthday today, I think I'll need the distraction to stop me crying ππ
You will be fine with the 20 minute run, just get into your stride and take it steady ... enjoy the continuous run .... and then, later on,help your daughter enjoy her birthday ...
