Hi all, I am now running 30 minutes, 3 times a week and doing 5_5.5k each run. I would like to build up to 10k, I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how many weeks do I continue with these runs before I increase my distance, when I say anyone I mean IannadoTruffe. I'm doing the Manchester 10k in May for British heart foundation, I have a justgiving page Martin Rosenfield for BHF, I genuinely don't expect any donations but just in case one of you is a mad millionaire. Much love runners.

Good luck with your next challenge. 10 k is a very satisfying next step. Enjoy.

Try varying the runs a bit now,.. shorter, slightly faster runs and a longer one slow and steady....then get into the C25K + podcasts to check out the different disciplines... ? Speed and stamina are really good:)

Then maybe head across to Bridge to 10K, for some great advice... there are quite a few friendly faces over there:)

On the advice of someone much more knowledgeable than me on here (but sadly I can’t remember who) I kept running three times a week - one slow, steady, short-ish one, one where I used the week 1 podcast but jogged the ‘walk’ parts and ran the ‘run’ parts at my ‘optimum’ pace (it’s an absolute killer) and one longer run where I just kept on adding my 10 percent each week. I used the stepping stones podcasts too, which were really helpful. Now I’m trying to work on strength training as I desperately need to do something about my ‘core’ as my running-coach-friend calls it, or rather, my ‘cake bit’ as my husband more realistically calls it!

Good luck and as others have suggested, definitely head over to Bridge to 10k. Those wise folk definitely prevented me from injuring myself by going it alone!
