ohh mate. The forum loves enthusiasm and would hate for it to be ruined by injury.

The high impact of running creates micro-tears in your muscles which require the rest day for repair, so your muscles get stronger on their "day off". If you run on consecutive days you don't get that, and worse, you increase your risk of injury.

Really want you to attack Week 4 and beyond with you at your best so the rest days are imperative! Well done on your progress so far.

Well I missed my run on Monday - and thought it my legs feel ok this morning - I am gonna have a go! And it was fine! Two hours later and I feel OK! Day off tomorrow will be off again on Friday!

Silly.. I am sorry, but it is.... the legs may feel okay.. you cannot see the micro tears!

Slow and steady is the way... and never, ever miss a rest day... !!!

Follow this programme and you will get to nine weeks injury free...however you feel, you take the rest day!

If you are not going to follow the programme, you stand a very real chance of serious injury...and any replies will reflect this... the forum follow the ethos of the programme and folk know the importance of rest days:)

We have seen a fair few go too far, too soon and they disappear very quickly! Usually to the injury Couch :)

Well I will be back on my usual pattern Monday/ Wednesday and Friday - from Friday - I do feel fine, but won't push it any further! Day off tomorrow and week 4 starts on Friday followed my two days rest!

And I didn't start from the couch - the running yes - I have been walking 6-10 miles per day cross country - which is why I probably am a bit more resilient!
