Total beginner!!

I have just downloaded the app after getting fed up of being unfit, feeling tired all the time & generally crappy! I've recently joined slimming world too but after having a really bad couple of weeks am now starting from the beginning again 😭 Managed to complete near enough all of my first run (just indoors at the moment due to little one) left the last run:walk but I couldn't push myself anymore! Hoping it will get easier over time. R x

Yay! Well done on your first run. You are doing something so positive for your health and fitness, taking up this running malarky. Now, make sure that you are going nice and slow. There is nothing to be gained from speed apart from possible injury and inability to complete a run because you have overdone it. I am on week 6 and I got here slow and steady…slow as anything. But I have finished every single run and will work on speed once I have completed the 9 week programme.

Also, be sure to do some stretches after (you can google post-run stretches). And believe that you can do this – because you can. :-)

Thank you so much for your reply. My partner has said he will join me so tomorrow I will try again for w1r1 and will definitely complete it this time x

Promise me you will try the super slow method? It seriously is the best way. You can end up demoralised if you don't complete runs, I think. Build up strength and stamina by running slowly! It truly, truly works! Have fun tomorrow! (And go at a pace that is comfortable for you, not your partner!) x

Slow is the way to go, honestly πŸ‘πŸ™‚

Get organised with your eating. If you plan ahead a bit meal wise you can get the weight loss thing cracked but you have to commit to change! If things don't change they stay the same!

Thank you. Yes I do find when I'm organised with meals then it's so much easier but as soon as I lose that bit of organising then it goes to pot. But I will keep trying 😊 x

Well done! You've done the hardest part by getting started and also made the effort to post on here. The folks on this forum are fantastic and offer great advice from their own experiences and encouragement if you're in the doldrums. I started in June overweight, with no fitness or running experience and am now running 5k 3 times a week. Go for it and good luck!

It may... but, but, but,.. you get stronger.. you DO!!!

Keep it slow and keep it steady and just enjoy the journey.. keep posting, take your rest days and listen to your body! If you need and extra rest day, then take it... and mainly, enjoy :)

This a great programme and a great forum... you will do just fine.. and well done too... with small ones.. it is tricky!

I also just downloaded the app on Sunday and did day 1 yesterday. I had a doctors visit last week, just a check up, nothing wrong. BP was through the roof, 200 over 100 which is a nice round number but scared the life out of me. I eat really healthily but am for sure a couch potato. Now on new meds, BP normalising and am taking control of my life.
