That's W4R3 completed. Bring on The Widow Maker...

So, that's my final run of Week 4. Rather tough, but the legs are holding up and the breathing is improving. Next week's Run 3 is, apparently, known as The Widow Maker? Here's hoping that I to post next Saturday then. Wish me 🏃 😂

The widow maker???? 😂😂😂😂 I haven’t heard that one!!!!! Lol...if you’ve completed all the runs so far you will have a fair chance at run 3...having said that it was my third attempt at it but it wasn’t the physical side of it, it was the psychological side...when I peeked at Week 5 before I’d even got there those ‘you’ll never do that’ gremlins had already convinced me I couldn’t do it...& I didn’t...but do you know what? I flippin did it in the end...thanks to my running family on here...& the sense of achievement is amazing...so don’t you let those gremlins anywhere near you next week because we can all shout louder than them when we say “YOU CAN DO IT”...and you will...keep posting so i can tell you ‘I told you so’ 😉

Mummycav109, Thanks for this. Yes, I guess, with hindsight, the 'Googling' ahead to Week 5 kinda wasn't sensible. It just seems such a big leap from 8 mins to 20... I'll try my best to set those doubts aside, as you say. Will post an update next Saturday. If not, perhaps the Widow Maker did its job x 🏃 🤣

Peeking is ok, we’re all guilty of it..just keep positive thoughts in there...they’ll keep you strong enough to wage war on those pesky blighters!!!

The 20 minute run W5 R3 the Widow Maker? Oh! Well just keep it really slow & steady so you can sustain it for 20 minutes and you'll feel so proud of yourself! It's a turning point and it'll make you think - yes, I can do this! Good luck 😉

W5R3 is a big run but every run leading up to that is preparing you for it just remember slow and steady does it

No problem...no difference in the runs...they all follow on from the one before...:)

You are ready for each and every one...the runs next week, are the same as all the other weeks. You keep it slow and steady and you will be fine:)

Well done you!

Oldfloss,

I do, very much, appreciate your inspiring replies. The 'slow and steady' is definitely the way to go. I'm feeling so much more motivated by everyone's confidence and support. Thx 🏃

You will do it...just know that you will :)

Well this coming Tuesday will be my week 5 run 3 too, so I shall be thinking of you!! I suspect if I think too hard I'll convince myself I can't do it, so I'll just try not to think. Trust me, I'm good at that lol It's just another run in the sequence, all progressing towards that final goal. We can do this, seriously!!

316neil,

Best wishes for the Big One on Tuesday. May you run on for a long time 🏃. Can't wait to read your post run update.

in reply to nikonphotobro

Thanks :) Much appreciated, I can't wait to get it under my belt actually. Who'd have thought I'd start to look forward to a longer run?

I did my last week 4 run today. I have the end week 5 next friday, not looking forward to it. 🙁

It appears that we're in this together... Good luck for Friday. We'll get through it 🏃

in reply to FlossnCharlie

Here's what I reckon, right? We've trained for it, we will have run for only a few minutes less in the previous run, this must just be building from what we've learned already. I now look forward to runs, so logically, this should be no different!

Well, that's what I keep telling myself :-) every run now I have in mind all the support from people here, and that makes me feel really good, which helps enormously!

I did w5d1 today so the big one hits on Thursday for me. My mantra this week is....I’m ready I’m ready I’m ready....hoping I believe it 😂👍🏼😁

Hi Neysa,

you're a run ahead of me, so I'm behind you all the way. You're ready, and you'll blaze a path for those that follow (includes me) 🏃 ☺️

I’ll make sure to report in after...well maybe on Friday think I’ll be too knackered Thursday night 😂😂

I thought my app had gone wrong when i saw the jump from 8 minutes to 20! After reading all the posts on here i realised it was actually correct and set off convinced i wouldn't manage it. I knew i could do 8, so thought 10 would be my limit. I got to 10 and then because i was half way felt quite positive and started aiming to get to points on my route to pass another minute. After 15 minutes i was determined not to stop unless i collapsed! I just kept counting the trees and waiting for the final 60 seconds message. That last minute seemed very long, but i felt so good when i finished! You can do it too! Positive thinking and counting trees!

Wendywill,

Absolutely fabulous! Congratulations, and like your style. I'll try looking ahead for markers. Great advice x 🏃

Pretty much everyone on here seems to manage W5r3 first try. Much wailing and knashing of teeth at w6r1 which seems like it should be easier.... But somehow isn't.

You will all be fine just start slow.

I did W5R3 today, you’ll surprise yourself with what fitness you’ve achieved up to doing it. It’s more of a mental challenge, keep telling yourself you can run for 20 mins and you’ll smash it

Good work! If I'd heard the widow maker name I may well have been a little bit more nervous about that run! You're so well conditioned by the programme by that time that you should breeze through it, good luck!

I've got w5r1 today. Not been looking forward to run 3 on Thursday but having read everyone's positive replies I'm starting to think I could actually do this. ☺

Go for it! Slow steady pace and hunt down those minutes... ☺
