Hi! I'm Sara and I've just completed my first run! I do quite a lot of walking and swimming but wanted something to motivate me to try running! Have lost 2 stone since January after starting a healthy eating plan and have come off tablets for high blood pressure so I want to continue with my new healthy lifestyle! π

Starting out!
Hi Sara and welcome to couchto5k.
You've done brilliantly losing that weight and by swimming and walking. That sure will of helped your level of fitness. One thing I've learnt from other more experienced runners on here, is just to go slow. I've only just completed week 2 today and moving on to Week 3 on Thursday but if it wasn't for the advice of others, I wouldn't of got this far. I wasn't doing much exercise before. Only daily walking which I started about a month ago. So I really am new to this also. I'm over weight too but the advice given to me has enabled me to get this far without failure.
I'm sure you will do well with your future runs. Keep posting ok. We look forward to reading updates from everyone.
Welcome to the Club - you're in the right place for all of the things you've just described and you'll find some great advice - have a dig around in the topics to find comments old and new and you'll find some brilliant nuggets. Main advice is take it slow and steady - let the programme lead you honestly you'll be ready at each stage as long as you follow the plan and take your rest days (you can still do other exercise if you want) - well done for starting out and keep on going, it's worth the effort.
Welcome, and well done for getting your first run done π Just as an added bonus I found that doing c25k also helped my swimming, as my increased fitness helped my speed and stamina ππ»
Welcome to the forum Sarakc . You've come to the right place if you want motivation in the C25K programme. You will get support, help, advice and even the occasional kick up the bum if you want it. I only started the C25k programme last August and am now able to run 10k. I wouldn't be doing any of this without the encouragement of this wonderful running family. Enjoy your running, stick with the programme, take it slow and steady, and pop back in to tell us all about your next run.
Thank you everyone for your lovely welcome posts! I'm off for my weekly swim this morning! Looking forward to my next run too! There's no stopping me now ha ha!! π
Welcome! This programme works miracles -stick to it, use your rest days and take it slow and steady. You can do it! This forum is the most supportive, wonderful place with some very wise people who have helped me enormously. Good luck, happy running and let us know how you get on.
