I was amazed that I stuck it out to the end of the programme but very pleased that I did. I did pretty much all of my running on a treadmill and I am now trying to run outdoors but finding it REALLY hard. I am thinking about joining a running group that do outdoor C25k and starting again from the beginning to build my confidence and stamina and also to meet some other would be runners. My question is does anyone know how I find such a group?

Thanks,

Kay

Hi Kay congrats on finishing the program. Have you heard of Parkrun? If not, google it maybe you will find one in your area and that could give you direction of runners in your area? I have just joined and just completed week one run 2 but I am using all the knowledge here and will be joining up at my local park run once I am more fit to take part. All the best let me know how you get on. R x

Thanks. I have looked at parkrun but at the moment I can't run for anywhere near 5k outdoors - that is my aim though, I want to be able to do the 5k and to be brave enough to do it with others! I have actually managed to find a C25k group near me (good old Google) and I am going along tonight. They are on week 2 tonight so I am reasonably confident I can keep up with them which will get me over the nerves of running with people. I am scared though.

Good luck with your journey this programme is amazing - if I can make it to the end anyone can.

Thank you it was a really lovely group (including an old friend I haven't seen for 6 years) and I felt really welcome and not too self conscious. Thanks for your support :-)

Thank you. It was actually really good. They were doing walk for 1 and 1/2 minutes, run for 1 and 1/2 minutes so I could keep going and managed to chat to other people in the walking parts. Also completely coincidentally one of the other people doing it is an old friend I haven't seen for about 6 years so it was lovely to catch up.

Where are you based? There is a running group near me that does c25k from week 1 outdoors. Think they are up to week 4 now. I can't join as it's a lunchtime group but heard their next one could be an evening

Hi. I'm in Derby and I managed to find a group who are on week 2 so I was able to join them. I recommend joining a group - they were really lovely and welcoming and it was far less embarrassing running in a group than running on my own :-)
