I've not had much success at running before. I completed the first session run yesterday so am proud of myself. Hoping to be able to complete the programme and impress myself. I've always found breathing while running the most difficult.

Breathing...just slow it down and do what you do every day...just breathe
Take it slow and steady, take your rest days and keep posting for great support and encouragement too
Breathing IS difficult at first. When I started I couldn't even run 45 seconds without stopping. My lungs were on fire and I really couldn't breathe. It was my biggest problem and looked like my biggest obstacle to completing the programme. I obsessed about it - read loads of articles about nose breathing v mouth breathing, breathing on every three stride etc etc. The reality was, none of those articles worked and were probably counter-productive. After three or so weeks I suddenly realised my breathing was getting easier - and that's my best advice to you - don't worry about it. Slow down and it will get easier.
I'm 45 (was 44 when I started), had never been able to run, was extremely unfit and massively overweight. Now I do a Parkrun every Saturday (5k), am a runner of sorts, am less unfit and less overweight! This programme works - just don't ever be tempted to do more than you should and make sure you have your rest days - and you'll do it! Good luck!
Thank you for your advice. I'm 46. The breathing is what has stopped me doing it before. Feeling more positive after yesterday's first run and concentrated on breathing in and out slowly and felt good at the end of it. Next run tomorrow evening.
Well done for starting I felt like you at the beginning but stay focussed on the steady pace and slow it down if your breathing is difficult. This is your journey so do it your way. Good luck with your next run

Keep the run sections nice and steady, just a gentle jog...no sprinting here..You are learning to run for a prolonged period and each run will build up your stamina for the next. Trust the plan, it works and you will be amazed at what you will acheive..😊

Ohhhhhh...you will definitely impress yourself I can promise you that!!!! Don't worry about your breathing, that will sort itself out on its own & on one of the runs you will think, "oh, my breathing is ok!!!!" Because it just happens...& that's the same with a lots of things on this programme...it just happens!!! So be prepared for surprises along the way but most of all, take it slow & steady, listen to your body & enjoy it....keep posting so we know how you're doing
Breathing??? Well, all I can say is, concentrate on your running & your breathing will sort itself out!!!
Well done for taking the first step of going for your first run. I suspect that's the hardest, mentally at least. I'm nearly half way through the programme myself, and trust me, even if you start from a fitness level of near-zero like I did, it's totally do-able.
And breathing? Yes, you probably ought to. Things tend to go badly if you don't breath
