Felt like a breeze compared to the 20 min effort. I also managed to cover a longer distance which is odd. But accepting I'm going to be out of breath and struggle at the 5-10 min mark has been a good thing. I'm now dreaming about doing the reservoir I jog round twice...!! Beautiful time of day to get out. What do I do in winter? Will I have to just go inside where there are other people??

No you can stay outside just dress up warmer, I have nice and toasty fleece leggings, wear gloves and a fleece hat and an extra top and I am away.

But well done you on this stage of your running, the longer intervals beckon and it sounds like you're doing fine...

I'm not worried about the cold. I work so currently getting up early and doing runs before I start. It's going to be dark soon and need to find lit flat locations as where I go currently is in the countryside.

Aha yup that's harder I live in the hills of Italy but can time my runs for daylight/dusk, so it's not too bad and I wear enough fluoro to frighten the horses....

It's always tough trying to work out where is possible, especially if you've enjoyed your countryside runs. Good luck finding a new route

Italy!! I started my journey on lovely shoreline of lake como and it's my inspiration to go back and be able to go for longer/miles. Hills not so appealing at the moment. I'll find a lit flat area. I'm determined! And prefer being outside.

Me too, there's something about sensing the seasons....

That looks like a lovey place. I'm gonna try and just keep going in winter as much as normal. If it's cold or wet, just gonna bash on unless its really is bad and see how I get on. I cancelled my gym in the summer and started this as I wasn't going so no indoors for me. Don't think other gym goers would appreciate my dog on a treadmill (although it might make YouTube)!!!

I'm just thinking dark. I'm ok cold and wet as I generate so much heat I don't think that's a problem!! What do you do for dark mornings and evenings?

I'm no expert. All the gear no idea really. Got a few bits of kit the other day like bright yellow top and phone holder that reflects. Got my dog a flashing collar and lead. I keep looking at a chest light maybe or head torch!!

Love it!! Tends to be the death knoll for me. I get the new kit and it goes pear shaped. Thinking head torch. Just the best flat route in the hilly area I'm in isn't lit and would be scary in the dark. I'll get researching routes or find a buddy I think.

How are you getting on lumpymum? You helped me get through the first 20 minute run in Week 5 and I just finished Week 7 this morning. Hope you are smashing it X

Thanks Fiona, the death knell of new kit has struck. Long story but I’ve not given up!

I had bought some more leggings and just after that had a tooth out. Had to miss my scheduled run due to pain and did one the day after. Which was great. Friday 22nd

Then had to go in the office the day I usually run, took my kit and got interrupted by an annoying colleague so missed that.

Then had to travel for work which was tiring and since getting back on Friday night I’ve not had the get up and go to drag myself out.

Am due to do w7 r1 and in my head I know I can do it but worried about having such a break from training. It’s only been a week (on Friday past) since I last did a run. Should be ok?!

Weather is dire too so it won’t be pleasant. thinking of going on a treadmill at the gym so I can treat myself to a steam after. Few things happening at home have knocked my routines out and I’m a bit grumpy about that also...just a bit tired overall today

Glad you are doing well and I really appreciate the note, may be just what I need to push myself on.

Thank you thank you thank you!! Was feeling tired and sorry for myself but with your note and the family keen for a swim at the gym I pulled up and went for it! 25 mins NON STOP must say the treadmill is easier and great for pacing... onwards and upwards. Let’s smash week 7!! Xxxx
