There is no quick fix to losing weight and extreme dieting will just lead you to regain weight again just as quickly when you stopped dieting. This is because your body feels it has been through a period of starvation and so it will store fat in case you starve again.
To lose weight successfully, you must not put in more calories than you can burn off in a day. There are apps that can help you plan meals and log calories and exercise, e.g., Map My fitness, etc. This will help you control what you eat.
Slimming World is really good. My Mum and niece joined and lost a couple of stone each and have kept it off. The good thing about it was that it educated them to eat healthily.
I am managing my weight very carefully at the moment as I want to lose a bit more. I eat mainly fresh fruit and vegetables, lean meat and fish and not too much by way of refined sugary food or carbohydrates. My daily food intake is quite low. Breakfast is a tablespoon of muesli, half a banana and zero fat milk. Lunch might be a hard boiled egg and a corn on the cob with a small salad. Dinner is steamed chicken and stir fried vegetables. If I am still hungry, I will eat some carrot or cucumber sticks. I stick to this sort of food weekdays and at weekends, I allow myself a treat, e.g., a couple of squares of chocolate, a glass of wine, etc., but I still don't go crazy as I don't want to undo my hard work as I have just 7lb to lose now.

Running burns a lot of calories. Have a look at the NHS Couch to 5k plan. It's not only a great way to get fit, you make friends too. I cannot count how many friends I have made now through running. I also am astounded that I have been running over 3 years now as I never have been able to stick at any exercise in my adult life until now.
