Music to run with

I am on week 4 of Couch to 5k. With longer runs I need music to listen to. Any recommendations for good running playlists?

I’m hoping someone adds to this - as I need something to run with to distract my thoughts too

You only ever should listen to the music you like, nothing else. If you are not into music then run without it, nothing worse than running along to something that annoys you.

100% with mrrun. Unless you want to relentlessly drive yourself with a specific BPM you favourite music is much more satisfying, regardless of genre.

Anything that you fancy and that works for you....there are lots of downloadable Music for Running programmes...but it is better to choose the stuff that sends you forward!

I don't think many folk would like my choices.. but when I don;t run naked.. they keep me on track :)

Amazon music has some good free playlists. I run to 'happy tunes' There are 50 in the playlist so plenty to choose from. Hope that helps

My daughter made me a playlist for Mother's Day. It was a really thoughtful gift and introduced me to some of her music that I didn't know.

I think it was Irishprincess who mentioned jog.fm, they have lists that can be downloaded based on your pace. There's a fair number of 80s and 90s cheese-likers on here too - for inspiration or your total desperation , here's what I ran to this morning- Unbelievable EMF, Somebody Told Me Killers, Lose Yourself Eminem (thanks to antet for that one) Uptown Funk, Rumour Has It Adele, Smile Like You Mean It The Killers, Oh Woman Oh Man London Grammar, Blasphemous Rumours Depeche Mode, Upside Down Paloma Faith, Vienna Ultravox, Can You Feel It Michael Jackson and Is Vic There Department S.

I love "Can you feel it" Forgot about it. Must get that on my playlist 🙂

This is the thing, you all of a sudden find music you have to have. This is my new incentive, a new tune each week - actually if I have a good week, 3 tunes a week, one for each run... I thought running was cheap?

Hey! Musicians need money for a living :) Want that song? Buy that song ;)

No issues in paying for it - I did business with PPL the music IPR folk years ago and they told me about struggling session musicians who 'earned' about £50 a year in royalties because they'd never been credited from old big money hits...

It's just the slippery slope of 'treats' for running....

I try not to think about it, annoys me greatly. Oh well, let's go for the last spin along the coast in post Lucifer Croatia, lord it's so much nicer now that it's cooled down. Not as cool as Stansted this evening, l fear :)

Going to add Can you feel it to my playlist 😀 - chuffed you added Lose Yourself to yours.

It was fab and I did Nik Kershaw too, but he didn't come up on the shuffle. Also added it's raining men...
