Run 1 of week 5 today following a very unhealthy weekend...πŸ™ˆ

I'm feeling really nervous about running for the first time since starting couch to 5k. My last run was Thursday as I've been away for a friend's 40th birthday over the weekend. There was much cake, wine and bbq food consumed over the weekend and today I'm feeling like I can't do the run. I'm off to work soon but will be forcing myself into my running gear when I return. Any tips to motivate myself would be grately appreciated! Thanks, Kerri

You have the motivation... hidden under your running shoes... Just accept that you have had a slightly hedonistic weekend... and set out steady and slow.

Warm up well... begin slowly and keep it at that... try to relax into the run and let all the happy thoughts of a great weekend carry you forward. You can do this:)

Well I ran last night after a weekend of fried breakfast, far to much cake and I mean far to much, nowhere near enough hydration and general slothenlyness

Really didn't feel like turning out it was chilly and raining BUT I strapped my shoes on and went and guess what without really trying to put effort in I ran one of my best times yet for 5k

If this old duffer can do it so can you!

Thanks for the encouragment! I'm determined to get back on track later 😎

One weekend of overindulgence does not mean you have been knocked off track. One rest day is a minimum. More is OK especially for birthday weekends. You are doing great. Your gremlins are trying to get you to give up. Don't let them. If you have got to week 5 then you can get to the end. Just get out there and prepare to surprise yourself.

Do it and it will make you feel better Running is a great way to recover from over indulging. I don't usually eat heavy lunches, but the last time I did I felt so over-stuffed that I got my running shoes on as soon as I got home and ran the lot off. You can do that whenever you feel the need once you've graduated

Good luck πŸ™‚

Call the cake and BBQ, carb and protein loading in readiness for your extra effort running this week.... that way, no guilt! But you do have to do the runs...

The hardest thing for me is getting the first few minutes done. It's then I always feel like giving up. So my advice is put your most favourite songs at the top of your playlist and by the time you've listened to a few of those you should have found your pace.
