Keep at it! Slow and steady is always the way as the runs progress in time and length.

Try and get a routine. Keep it to the same times/ days of the week if you can. And enjoy the journey!

Hi Newbie,

First thing to realise - we've all been where you are.

Second thing to realise - have faith in the programme - it really works - there's enough evidence in the comment boards of this forum, to show that.

If you not sure about that - find an active Graduate (they have the grey Graduate tags next to their names - envious - not quite there yet) click on their names and go back through their history of comments and quotes. They went through the programme too - from week 1 all the way to the end of week 9.

Finally - don't be discouraged by a bad run - "not a Failure" just a "Practise". And don't push for pace too soon - the programme as I am finding - almost end wk 6 is about building your stamina so you can run continuously for 30 minutes. Don't let that frighten you if someone like me - late 40's, 18st with a 38/40" waist who hasn't run for more than a minute n almost twenty years can do this - so can you.

Trust in the programme (sounds a bit like a cult I know - but true never the less)!

Good luck and hope you enjoy the journey.

RFR

PS - I favour running outside - as I feel like I'm actually getting somewhere and have always hated treadmills - but that's just me - do what makes you comfortable!

Thank you for the encouragement. I am 56! Managed to lose 5 stone with a well known slimming group so I am seeing this as my next challenge. I'm going to do runs outside as gyms scare me!
