Nearly there................Park Run around the corner

Hello everyone. Nine weeks ago I started the Couch to 5K challenge and I can honestly say say that it is only by reading all of the motivational and supportive posts that I have got this far. My challenge at the beginning was the dreaded bridleway which snaked up the sides of the middle Malvern Hills and I still have to dig deep to conquer it every time I run. Then, about 4 weeks ago I was diagnosed with having a small breast cancer. All of you amazing people encouraged me to carry on running and I did - I managed to complete week 7 on the morning of my operation. The nurse remarked how low my pulse rate was - 51 - despite the fact that I am at least a couple of stone overweight.

My consultant told me that I could 'run' again as soon as I felt well enough to do so as long as I wore a supportive sports bra. By the Monday after my operation I was itching to out my running shoes on again and I faced my dreaded bridleway again!! Tomorrow morning I will run the third week of week nine - my graduation - just before I see the consultant in the afternoon to discuss the outcome of my operation and the treatments that lie ahead of me.

Whatever happens I intend to drag my husband along to Worcester race course to do a parkrun on Saturday.

Thank you all a million times over. I could not have faced this unexpected health issue without the support of all of the members of the forum.

When I read about the trials and tribulations of other people - and how they have come fighting through- I realise that everything is achievable. Thank you again

Thank you. My husband is quite fit - and a lot leaner - but I hope that it will be good fun. Good luck with your running - it is such a good feeling isn't it?

As another member of the big C club, I wish you well.

Running will bring you calm and peace when you need it, as well as keeping you fit and mentally positive to face the future. I am envious of the Malverns. One of the areas I would love to run in.

Nearly at graduation. Well done.

Keep running, keep smiling.

Thank you so much. Someone once told me that the Malvern Hills are a thin place where Earth and Heaven meet - and that is exactly what I feel when I run on them. You really should try to come and run here sometime. Thank you again for your support!!
