So envious of your country runs ...

We've been trying to move house since the beginning of this year, it's been like pulling teeth, I can tell you. I read about the lovely runs some of you guys are doing along country lanes, up hill and down dale and I am envious ...

Now don't get me wrong, we live near farmland and parkland and during the summer we run off-road and it's lovely. But the nights are drawing in already and we run in the evenings because, well, that's what works for us with our jobs.

But ... There is finally light at the end of the tunnel, the house move (from suburban Herts to semi-rural Norfolk) looks like it's finally going to happen, perhaps in October, and I am currently working my notice at work ... (Eek!)

I'm not really gloating (and I don't want to jinx it) but I am SO looking forward to running more than once or twice a week (just too tired to do it more often at the moment) when we move, not having to run in the dark on roads in winter (winter daylight running - yay!) and finding new countryside routes.

I've never done a Parkrun as I often work on Saturdays but I see there are 2 in the Thetford Forest area ... Exciting! And who knows, I may even be able to take my running to the 10k level once I'm getting more practice in, which I planned to do this year and haven't managed to do.

Exciting (and scary) times ahead ....

Good things come to those who wait! Glad to hear here of your imminent move to pastures greener!

I too am worrying about winter runs as I want to avoid running on concrete/ tarmac/ near traffic etc but it's scary, as a lone female, (and dangerous underfoot) running off-road when it's darker.

Not solved that one yet!

Best of luck with your move! 👍

Any chance of early runs... dark I know in the Winter..( I did C25K Winter 2015... there was only me daft enough to be out there :)

I'll be fine Mondays and Wednesdays when I can run straight after dropping my kids off at school, but my Fri/ working alternate Saturdays will be a challenge. Actually, come to think of it, that means that the majority of my runs will be in daylight- glass half full! 😁

That does sound really exciting! It will be great to have that extra choice of places to run.. and be near a Parkrun or two! Definately something to focus on to reduce stress during the moving process! Good luck!

Yes, I know that 10k's not going anywhere!

I hope the move comes off. Such fun to find new runs and new times of day to get out there. Norfolk (in my very limited experience) is very pretty :)

I have almost exactly the opposite move this week - we're going from proper countryside to the middle of a city. Now, admittedly it's Oxford, so not exactly the 'citiest' of cities, but still...! I'm hoping Christ Church meadows and/or the University Parks work well...

Good luck with your move - hope it all goes smoothly, and that new running opportunities reveal themselves!

Wow! And good luck with YOUR move. Don't forget where you've packed your trainers now!

Good Luck with your move to East Anglia - it's a bit darker up here as we don't have the light pollution - but the air is clearer - and there are less hills than most places.

Hope you enjoy your country running - just avoid the tractors.
