Errrr, excuse my language...but I am ECSTATIC!!!!! I HAVE JUST FINISHED, COMPLETED ACTUALLY, W5R3!!!!! Can you believe it???????? Yes it was really hard, yes, I had to REALLY push myself, especially at the end when my 20 playlist just stopped with about 3 minutes to go so I could hear what I though was an air bed being blown up but was actually my lungs(!)....I could've easily used that as an excuse to my gremlins to stop but I didn't, I just had a word with myself & carried on...I never changed my pace all the way through I just kept a slow & steady rhythm, Oldfloss Stylee....that extra day must've done me some good, both mentally & physically!!! I am having an extra egg for my breakfast to celebrate...& probably a glass of wine or two this evening!!!!! YES YES YESSSSSSSS!!!! Thank you all for drumming into me that I CAN do this....😘😘😘😘😘😘

I'm looking forward to it...yes, I was shattered at the end but after a couple of minutes I'd got my breath back & felt soooo proud of myself!!!

ps - If you haven't already you need chumbawamba's tubthumping on the end of your 20 playlist: youtube.com/watch?v=OQhbt2c...

Ha ha...I'm intrigued...it's going on there though....Ed Sheeran came on when I put my music on for my cool down walk...Sun comes up & there's a line in there "I ran till my feet could run no more.....and I sang till my lungs were burning so I know I'm alive" I just changed the word sang to ran...& it seemed so appropriate!!!! X

I think, from a spectator's perspective, this is my favourite run of the whole programme. Before they do it everyone is convinced they won't be able to do it - and then they do! It's a mind game! But, nevertheless, it's a massive milestone so WELL DONE! You deserve that wine and I may just join you in one this evening!

My playlist is really varied and has a huge number of songs on so I just put it on shuffle. My run was tough last night and my calves are really tight so I took it a bit easy (do not want to damage myself with only a week until my triathlon) and did a run/walk. I decided that at 25 minutes I would run the last 5, slightly faster than I would normally do, just as Queen and Don't Stop Me Now came on - perfect running track for me - perfect rhythm for my running - and I smashed that 5 minutes and didn't want to stop. So I went and practised my swimming instead!

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to RebeccaSK

Oh yes, it's def a mental challenge...this was my third attempt, as you know, & I knew it wasn't physical...I've had people telling me that it takes about 5 mins for your breathing to sort itself out, so I waited for that, before I knew it I'd been running 10 mins....then I crossed the road and headed for home, another 5 minutes had passed so then I just thought, I've only got another 5 minutes to go so it's pointless stopping now, you'll be cross with yourself if you do, so I didn't...just kept on pushing & finished!!! What a feeling??!!

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to RebeccaSK

P.s...Don't stop me now is a great track, I've got that one...also Lust for life by Iggy Pop is excellent for running to

Well done you. After your week 4 run 1 you replied to a comment. Well I never managed to that run that night and ended up repeating week 3 twice!! But I have just completed week 4 finally and ready for week 5?! Your comments really help. They all help to keep us going.

Good for you now just carry on like that believing you can do it and while not a breeze it will set you up each time you go out for the following run but beware week 6 could catch you out and you don't want to get downhearted.

Mummycav profile image

I'm going to take it nice & steady...I got a bit down hearted with week 5 as I'd repeated week 4 so many times & was reluctant to move on...the first two runs I did went well but I have found W5R3 a toughy...this was my third attempt this morning...it's a mental challenge as well as physical...but I got my head down this morning after taking an extra rest day & I nailed it....I know the rest won't be a breeze but now I've got this run out of the way I know it's possible because there is absolutely no way I thought I could ever run for 20 mins solid... but I can!! I'll take my time & listen to my body...thank you for your wise, words & advice

Well done. Now you can believe in yourself.

W6 is a funny one, with a return to intervals that feels it should be easier, but definitely isn't.

However, you have proved your mettle enough, so now we can start to whisper the 'G' word πŸ†
