Hi, I just finished week 1, although the idea of week 4&5 (especially 5) scares me.. I've read everywhere that w5 has a huge difference from w4 and is very difficult.. What is your experience, I'd like to know?
Week 5?: Hi, I just finished week 1, although... - Couch to 5K
Week 5?
Take each week as it comes... you are just at the beginning... know that each run makes you stronger and that you will be ready for each new week... that is all there is to it
Please, please chillax, , the programme gets you there, it got me oh and loads of others there too. Please remember each run doesn't stand alone, it's a cumulative effect. Bizarrely most of us seemed to have W5 frighteners, but then we all seem to get through it. Otherwise there.d be no posts in W6 and beyond.
If I had my time again, I might have taken an extra rest day before tackling the final run. But that is with the benefit of a shed load of hindsight, and truthfully I did the run without the rest... best thing to do is to dispassionately evaluate your physical and mental tiredness nearer the time and take it from there.
Don't give yourself 'worry hurdles' 3/4 weeks in advance, keep running and posting and btw the concept of a Week is a flexible one, it isn't strictly calendar, some of us repeated a run or two, or a week or two or more We don't have C25K police on here, but if you are really stressed about it go and look at both the W4 and W5 weekly posts and read how many folk stressed beforehand and then posted afterwards of how amazing they felt.
I promise you, you will do it when you are ready to and when you've trained to do it. Have faith in it and yourself and be prepared to be amazed! Good luck Monique , you're facing W2 now and have done the hardest one of all.
Definitely don't worry about weeks ahead I did that and it lead me to be so negative..... So started again and focused on each Run .... keep posting and listen to all the great advice and have faith we all started at week 1 Run 1 xxx
Don't be worrying about what's to come, the programme is designed to be achievable and each week as you go through makes you stronger and prepares you for the next week.
There are some key points in the runs which turn you around and yes week 5 is one of those BUT it is achievable and you've got a little way to go yet, so just go on and do your next run, enjoy it and keep posting and letting us know how you're getting on
You asked for our experiences - mine is that each week is harder than the last, and yet, completing each week has made me ready to try the next, and so I have reached week 6, run by run.
It's frowned upon in general (in life, I mean) to tell people they should or shouldn't do things, but you really shouldn't worry about week 4 or 5 yet :). Do keep posting as the others have suggested, if you like, and keep us updated!
Thank you all so much! I feel more encouraged now thanks!! xoxo
Hi there well done on starting this. As everyone says 1 week at a time and you will be amazed at your progress. The key thing at this stage is getting into the routine of regularly going out to run coupled with gradually increasing your runs as per the program. Don't overthink it, or panic about what's ahead. Have fun!
