A little update to say I completed W5R1 this morning. Legs felt heavy at the end of week 4 so I'm taking the slow and steady mantra to my running diary and having 2 rest days between each run, rather than just the one day.
It feels good to be over the half way marker of the programme now. I'm starting to get the runners' nod from my fellow early bird runners too!

Amazing- well done! I did the same run last night, came home just as it was starting to get dark good for you for managing to do the morning runs- I can't do them at all! Keep it up x
I can't do the evening runs - I am impressed with anyone who goes for a run at the end of the day. All I can manage then is the big collapse on the couch, definitely no 5k! I find motivation for the am run somewhat lacking too but somehow it is easier to shame the gremlins into silence at 7am.
Thank you. I am enjoying it but I also have some trepidation about how I will stick to the routine of the programme when the summer holidays are over. I'm a teacher, so I've had lots of lovely time over this summer to devote to myself but very soon the classroom will be calling and the mornings will be busy again. I am really keen though to get two runs before work each week. I'll just have to get up really early...
Hi Beck1970. Well done on doing the early mornings. I get out when I can in the day, but like you, am worried about losing momentum when I go back to school in September and think I'll probably end up running after school (if I don't just collapse in a heap at the end of the day!). Like you, I'm also taking it slower and trying to work on building stamina rather than racing through it and am often leaving 3 or even more days between runs. I graduated a few years back from c25k, but lapsed after about nine months (after a bereavement) and have tried restarting the programme again a couple of times, but this is the furthest I've got since the first time I did it and I just want to keep going and feel healthier and (hopefully) less stressed when term begins!
I did W5, run 1 today and was surprised that it wasn't as bad as I had imagined.
Well done Chipstick on keeping going this time. I agree with the running hopefully being a good stress buster too. I did W5R3 today which I am still wearing a rosy glow from, ten hours after the run! I'd like to have week 6 under my belt before 4th September but 2 rest days do suit me well.
