week 6 in the bag... and social running

A few of you helped me psych myself up for my first run with company at the end of last week. My sister is my C25K inspiration, but she's a year ahead of me so is much fitter and faster. We talked beforehand about needing to go at my pace, and I told her I was worried about being self-conscious of holding her back, so we decided that she would do interval training while I did my fist 25 min run holding firm at my own pace. She jogged at my pace and every 5 minutes she would do a fast burst then come back to me. It worked really well - she got a different sort of workout and I found I really liked the company. I spent much less time thinking about how tired I felt than I usually do. I'm now feeling much happier about the idea of park runs and might even jump the gun and do my first next weekend.

That's brilliant!

Definitely, definitely do the Parkrun.

Good luck and happy running!

I would do the Parkrun but only using the C25k app or,podcast, to ensure I stuck to the programme. You don't want to do too much at this early stage

The only problem with that though is that it won't take you to the 5k mark yet, but you could walk the rest as your cool down walk πŸ™‚ Don't go off-piste though and overdo it will you πŸ™

What a great compromise you came to, neither of you losing out for fear of holding the other back. Brilliantly done, and go do the Park run, but again put on your sensible hat and think how to integrate it into C25K as you don't want to lose your momentum on a program that's working for you.

In any event you run with super sister sounds exactly the boost you wanted it to be. fab
