Hi All,
I've finished week 1 now! The first 2 runs went really well, but I've had a lot of hip pain after my 3rd. Any suggestions on how to prevent hip pain?

Try landing a little more lightly too and take it gently.... well done you!
As Oldfloss has said, stretching makes a huge difference. Have you had gait analysis for your shoes too? Are you running on tricky terrain?
Despite being fairly young I've suffered with hip pains for years. In the first few weeks of C25k I found things difficult, my hip problems had a knock on effect with my knees, groin injuries etc. Gait analysis and proper shoes gave made a difference, that stability meant I could focus on my form whilst running. Activating my core, keeping my hips straight, lengthening my spine all helped to take pressure off the hip joints. I also incorporated some very gentle yoga before and after to which has helped lengthen my stride with strength (my hip problems meant I was previously very tense in the joints, taking small bouncy steps) forward bends and folds in yoga gently loosen the hip joints after a run. I'm on week 8 now, mindful running with gentle yoga has made me stronger and less prone to my normal hip aches and pains. Don't let initial niggles put you off, take some rest, Research, get proper running shoes with gait analysis, listen to your body and stretch, your body will get stronger. I genuinely believe c25k is helping to manage my longstanding hip problems! Get to the doctors too, just to check out underlying issues or if the pain gets worse.
