W1r1 ..... six months later I'm still running!

Hurrah! today I'm celebrating my first 6 months of being a runner!

6.45am February 14th 2017, W1r1, just as it was getting light I sneaked around the edge of my local playing field dressed in black in the hope no one would see me. Totally exhausted when I got home.

9.00 am August 14th, ran 5k along a canal path and sea wall, happily saying good morning to everyone I met. Still red faced and exhausted when I got home, but feeling thrilled and amazed that I've kept going.

I graduated in April and I've got several Parkruns under my belt and actually look forward to Saturday mornings!

My sincere thanks go to all you fellow runners for getting me through these months with you advice, encouragement either directly or indirectly and sharing your experiences either good or not so good. I still suffer with self doubt and am attacked by those wretched gremlins from time to time but you help me deal with it. You're a great bunch!

So anyone just starting W1 today, YOU CAN DO IT! and in 6 months time you'll be writing a celebratory post too.

Happy half runniversary. I am about two weeks behind you and have just returned from a 6.75k run which included hills! Wearing a fluorescent orange top to boot!

Hills too, that's an achievement, my canal path and sea wall route is obviously very flat!

Well done for getting started. You'll get there. I did it having been a non runner all my life so you can too.

Just remember 'slow and steady' (quoting Oldfloss), take your rest days without fail and trust in the program.

Before you know it you will be graduating and running 5k too. Like you I was late 50's when I started (very late 50's, I was 60 in May!). Good luck with the rest on the program.

Week 1, run 2, six months later. And no red kites.

go! Got out on Monday for w1 run 1, then today for Week 1 run 2, which I last ran 6 months ago...

Still running nearly 5 months later

2-3 times a week now at the end of Sept - 30 mins a run and achieving around 2.8-3.8 Km each time....

Second time around - six years later

ago. I got to be able to run for 35 minutes but then my left foot started playing up and each time...
