Running naked at the seaside - not for me!

I've just come back from a work trip to Sussex. Was super excited at the thought of running along the coast path. But it wasn't great πŸ˜•. Decided to run naked with the sounds of the waves and seagulls, no music. But my running gremlin came along big time and I think bought a few friends. So clearly running naked on the beach isn't for me.

Excuses - I'd just driven for nearly 4 hours, and was possibly a bit dehydrated, was worried I would miss last orders for dinner in the hotel and have decided I get a bit anxious running in unfamiliar places.

Still positives though - even with the walking breaks I still covered 4km in around 32 mins, and 4 months ago there is no way the first thing I would have packed for a business trip was my running gear 😊😊

Hi I can't do naked running either, i need music to take me away, or a podcast, it seems to act as a run settler. I am thinking of something like a horse whisperer in tech terms. Driving is tiring and 4 hours you probably needed a rest. But the pace sounds great and who knew running gear was an absolute necessity for business? Well done you on keeping the running faith.

I think I am ok without music with other people, like at park run or my running group. But on my own, I clearly need the extra motivation!

The thought of music in my ears whilst running sends shivers down my spine, I'm definitely a naturist runner

I am going on hol and have packed my gear. I am not taking my tunes as I think will need to have my wits about me running in unfamiliar surroundings. In new surroundings there is a lot to take in and new sights to see

My first run beachside was a total anticlimax. I had built it up so much in my mind there was no way it could live up to it. The second one was so much better. There will be another run one day and it will be better.

When running in a strange place I have no expectations about pace or distance and I don't take music. I know I need to keep my eyes and ears open, and my wits about me if I'm not going to get lost. The aim is to just get out there and see something new. And I love it! I am rarely fast, sometimes I really do get lost, but running has honed my sense of direction so that so far I have always found my way back!

Running without music? I simply can't do that. If surroundings aren't familiar then I'd tone it down so l can hear what's around me. Gallop with no Keef or Mick? No way. :) Ride with a riff, l'd say ;)

An update on this as I have been working again in the area recently. Last week I managed to do the prom run again and stupidly forgot my headphones, but still managed to do 7k this time with only a bit of jeffing towards the end. Just goes to show how perseverance pays off 😊
