Well a few weeks ago I set out to try to run sub 30 consistently and today was 29.5. So Thurs was 30.1 and Tues was 29.25. Today was listening to a talk show podcast. Thurs was the Stamina 5k+ podcast and Tues was no headphones at all. Trying to keep my pace light and natural and not push too hard. Trying to listen to my legs and touch down lighter with each step and it seems to help (thank you Oldfloss!). I just got back and I'm feeling pretty good. I try to have walk days in between. If I didn't I would never leave the house as I work from home in front of a computer π I don't know who this person is when I look in the mirror now. Never been able to hold an exercise routine this long before. Hope I can hang in through the winter. Work and winter have beat me before. But not this time ππͺ!
Getting there...: Well a few weeks ago I set out... - Couch to 5K
Getting there...
Well done Deckerπβ
I'm trying to do Oldfloss' light footwork too!π
Yeay... I knew I had my uses!
Go you! I bet you are looking pretty good! Plus your positive approach.... you will keep this up!
Ah, work & winter When those guys get together the going can get tough. I tried running before work and it 'worked' to an extent. Sometimes it didn't if l couldn't get properly rested up the night before. Later on l firmly settled into afterwork runs and did it easy without pushing hard. It can be done and enjoyed if you put your mind into it - no reason why not, winter is not that bad and your work will benefit from a more relaxed you
With me, I've so far gotten better results running early in the morn. Sets a great tone for my day and actually helps manage the stress of sometimes difficult clients. You're right of course, winter is not that bad and we have a community centre nearby with a running track I can use for free so there is no excuse even when the snow is up to my knees!
Well done Decker.
You might well find that by only trying to hit your sub 30 target once a week, or dare I say, once a month, that you will in fact generally get faster overall.
Thank you Iannoda. I'm really making efforts not to push myself hard at all. Since my natural jog is a very little bit faster than the stamina cast (only realized this when I ran without headphones or Laura), it seemed like an achievable goal. However, I have a charity fun run on the 18th, and after that my plan was to think about how to approach the next distance stage, certainly slower, to maybe look towards the 10K training program. I tried it once a few weeks ago and didn't really feel ready for it, but this time I feel I would be a bit more prepared. By this time next year it would be great to be doing two 5s during the week and a 10 on the weekend π haha, we will see I guess!
