Well my little brave fellow runners I did it! It truly is mind over matter. (I know - if it didn't matter I wouldn't mind!) I passed two policemen in Regent's Park near the end and nearly told them "20 minutes, you know, non-stop, 20 minutes!" Instead I just grinned from ear to sweaty ear. The benefit of doing 20 minutes now is I'm not scared of the rest of the programme; pretty sure it'll carry me through.
W5R3! Done! Yippee!: Well my little brave fellow... - Couch to 5K
W5R3! Done! Yippee!
yay! Well done you!
Good innit! Just go steady, oh so steady and you'll nail it
Well done! A big milestone, great job!
Glad I'm not the only one who keeps wanting to tell random strangers how well I'm doing. In the first 3/4 weeks I was walking past people, mentally telling them "I'm meant to be walking, I'm following the plan."
Now (W6) I'm shuffling past people, desperate to tell them how much I've run/got to run that session!
Well done, it is a milestone indeed.
W6R1 has a habit of catching people out. On paper it looks easy, but be warned and treat it with respect and self belief.
You can do it.
Say hello to Regents Park for me as I loved doing mine there yesterday. Well done you W5 R3 I was grinning like a Cheshire Cat for at least 2 days. We are runners, we are part of this glorious club, and who knew sweaty ears were a badge of success, not me.... cracking stuff
Lol. I suspect even my fingernails were sweaty! I look forward to the day when I simply glow rather than looking like a shiny red tomato about to burst...
Okay so may I direct you to the Dulux red paint colour chart?, my colour has veered from Monarch (bad) to Salsa Red (normal) I think I'm hitting Raspberry at present. I am aiming for Sorbet....
p.s. I have no connection to Dulux I just thought their colours matched my face...
Mine is clearly still Monarch...
Yep it's a real grin run, I wanted to tell random strangers! Well done you, I am not looking at the next week yet as I had sleepless nights before W5 R 3 so will not look at the run till I'm plugged into Sarah. We can do it
Amazing! Take this feeling and put it in a box in your mind that you can call on later!
Great, LizzyLD. I completely agree. Adding minutes on at the 20 min stage didn't seem to make much difference, or maybe just to my tiring legs. It was managing 20 mins that I turned a corner and thought 'wow - I might actually GET to 30 mins!!'. Up until then I doubted I'd complete any of the runs.
Bask in the pride of your achievement and let us know when you've graduated. 🏃🏽♀️
It will, and you will... get there! Very well done you!
Whoop whoop! I'm sure that's the point of that much-dreaded run - once you realise you can trust in the programme to not get you doing anything you can't actually do, you win against a serious self-limiting gremlin. It's a real turning point that 20-minuter! You're a runner now - if anything like me then you're still a puffing, sweating one, but you know you can do it now 😀 .
This will be my next run, scheduled for Monday. If I said I wasn't nervous I'd be lying. Yesterday I had George Michael singing "Faster, Love" to get me through the last painful minute. (I'm sure that comma is there in the original lyrics.) I wonder who will be encouraging me through the last painful 12 minutes tomorrow...
Job done this evening. 20 minutes non-stop. No idea who was singing to me tonight, I somehow put a load of dreary stuff on my running playlist by mistake. Just think how fast I could have been with more motivational music. Off for a lie down!
