Hello Rossboss, welcome to the family! I only started in April so am no expert but will say, starting is the hardest & biggest step & once you've done that, you're on your way to making great changes. Generally I would say trust in the plan, it does work, but whilst you need to push yourself, don't beat yourself up if you need to repeat a run session. Just make sure you can do each one before moving on to the next. I couldn't do all the one-minute runs in that very first session but I'm now moaning about how hard I'm finding running 5k in 30 minutes! I never thought I'd be that person! Just do it, you'll be great. 😀

Slow & steady...if you don't manage all of the runs, put them down to being practice runs...good luck...& before you know it week 1 will be a distant memory! Don't worry if you feel like you have to repeat certain weeks either....its all practice & any running is better than no running at all 😉

You will have bad days, don't let those days get you down or put you off. Enjoy it, keep a steady pace and you'll amaze yourself. Good luck.

My favourite mantra, which I am famous, sorry , I am infamous for.. slow and steady.

Take your rest days, more if you need them, listen to your body... (it will complain and grumble at you at first), and follow the programme, without pushing too hard.

Ignore the mind gremlins, which may pop up from time to time, telling you that you cannot do this, focus on just reaching the 30 minute runs, and not reaching 5K.

Welcome to this brilliant forum and the programme...keep posting, successes and set backs if you have any... folk are supportive and encouraging and they will offer advice willingly, so ask any questions you like, not matter how silly you feel they may be.

A healthy eating regime, linked with this carefully structured programme is a winning combination.. a few of our forum friends are also on the Weight Loss forum too, and fins that very useful. You may wish to take a peek ?

Biggest thing for me was just getting started. I've just finished week 2 so am no expert and fingers crossed can keep it up. The plan seams ok to follow so far. Just don't run too fast. It's about getting to the end and not how fast you do it:)!!!

I too am overweight and i have made it to week 7. When i started i didn't think i would make itthrough the first run and now i have run for 25 minutes non stop - slowly but i have done it. Just concentrate on each run as it comes and don't think about next week. It is worth it and you can do it! Good luck
