Achy knees! Just done my w2r1..now on grass / local playing field and also KT tape now adorns my knees!..but it has helped give support.

Quick query..I am taking the advice of running very slowly...but am I too slow?...what would be a good bpm for 'very slow'?

Thanks all

Ps...lovely to be here in your safevirtual hands!

There is no 'Too Slow'.

A good BPM for Very Slow is whatever one best suits you.

Too slow doesn't exist!! You'll find your own running pace as you go through the week's. For now, just focus on the fact that you are running!!😁

I used to get overtaken by walkers. Very slow is very good.

Achy knees will probably resolve over time, but you could try some exercises to strengthen the muscles around your joints

I was sooo achy the first few weeks of the programme especially first thing in the morning and after getting out of a chair! Not many people mention aches and pains on their posts but I really felt them!

My knees have been very achy all day since my run 8 hrs ago..I'm wondering if its ok to take a rest for a week to let the knees settle down, even tho I'm only just getting into the programme..which ill be gutted to do, as i really want to succeed ..but I've barely been able to walk since my morning run eek!

I'm no expert but I wonder whether you'd be better to still take yourself out to keep in the habit but maybe slow down and repeat week 1 if you're finding it very hard. The key is making it part of the routine.

I also found a warm up and warm down routine on you tube by 'Fitness Blender' which really helped with the aches. youtube.com/watch?v=u5Hr3rN... is the warm down and youtube.com/watch?v=R0mMyV5... is the warm up.

I would suggest doing some knee strengthening exercises on your rest days, you would prob find them on YouTube to help you. Don't take a week off but see how your knees feel in two days then maybe take an extra rest day.

Well done on starting the program & good luck with your next runs 👍👍
