Hi guys
Read this this morning and thought it was a good story to remind us all why we started this journey and show people what can be achieved, even though on W1R1 we all doubt we'll ever manage 30minutes running.

Amazing what he's achieved. But I think there's an aspect of "just pure enjoyment" that he's left out. I don't want to be goal driven, because there is the risk that I will give up if I "fail". And there is no fail in running. Plus there is a real risk of injury if I keep pushing this old body to its limit. So what he says may be right for some, but not all.
Fabulous write up, thank you for posting.
There is also the element of just running for oneself that doesn't come through in the story.
I turned to running for occasional respite from the constant anxiety of ongoing family health issues. i still use it for that purpose, the 'me time'. The physical health benefits mentioned are an added bonus for me, but the mental health benefits are my priority.
I run because I can.
I absolutely agree with both of you and you're right, goals aren't for everyone but it depends how you view a goal. It was more about showing those who doubt they'll ever run for 30 minutes that they can and they will.
I started out with a goal of graduating this program then completing a Parkrun. Now I run just because I can but that in itself to me is my goal, to stick with it and just enjoy myself.
