I've just done my 3rd run of week 9, very pleased and relieved since it took me four attempts to get past run 2! I was a bit tough in the middle so I think I'm just going to repeat it a couple of times and build up to 5k (I only managed 4) and work on my times after that. Thanks to everyone for all the useful tips and motivation, I don't know if I could have done it without this forum!

It's so shiny!

You sound just like my daughter! Shiny is good. However in the case of the medal I got on a run yesterday - pink and sparkly is good!
Reply (1)Report
Ooh yes indeed! How far did you have to run for that?
Reply (1)Report
10k - not too bad as most of it was downhill.
Reply (1)Report
Crikey, 10k though
Reply (1)Report
I know - but don't forget that this time two years ago I had only completed 3 Parkruns!!!
Reply (1)Report
Well I hope I can do 10k one day, even if it takes me forever!

Trust me - at some point in the future you will utter the phrase "it's only 10k!" I promise - and then you will laugh at yourself for saying it!

Congratulations on graduating and getting your badge! Feels great, doesn't it?
I can't believe how much pleasure I felt just to see that badge saying "Graduate" next to my name. Childish, I know but hey!
My next task is to run all of 5k, perhaps a couple of practices this week and then Parkrun next Saturday, I think.

Thanks Iain! I know, I keep looking at it! Haha! Yes I want to do a parkrun as well but I really want to run it all too
Reply (1)Report
Don't worry about giving Parkrun a go. I have done 9 Parkruns and have only managed to run the full 5k for 3 of them. It gets really addictive. I love Saturday mornings now.
Reply (2)Report
Ah that's interesting, thanks I'll just make sure I'm not going to fall over then!

Oldfloss Administrator Graduate 7 years ago Congratulations..very very well done..! That photo says it all.. simply wonderful!
Bask in the glory and when the party is over, take a bit of time to just run for pure joy...because you can! Then consolidate the 30 minute runs, but vary some other runs too, shorter or longer with no time pressure
So much to do now you are making the choices, to help those running legs which are just getting going, to develop even more

Thank you Oldfloss, good advice as always
