So I tried W2 R2 on Friday, and having felt mildly confident from the first run this week decided to try a new route at some local woods. Turned out to be a big mistake, I hadn't realised just how hilly and steep the route was. For the first time since starting the programme I couldn't run all the running sections and found myself walking & pausing it. It made me feel so dejected and questioned if I'd really made any progress at all. So I decided not to save that run, and with some encouragement from the hubby gave it a second attempt today. I went back to my normal nice flat route & my 'jalking' pace and completed it no problem! So pleased I gave it a second attempt as I was so tempted just to give up. Lesson learnt not to try too much too soon!
W2 R2 second attempt : So I tried W2 R2 on... - Couch to 5K
W2 R2 second attempt
That's the way to do it!!! Well done.
Hills are unforgiving, but do build stamina and strength if you can manage them. I altered my route in W6, because I realised that all my runs would end on a 750metre steep hill.
Please don't even think of giving up if you don't complete a run. We all come to this with different levels of fitness and sometimes it takes a practice run or two to build your body enough to accomplish the challenge. Each and every run makes you stronger.
Keep running, keep smiling.
Very well done... slow and steady and not getting despondent! Hills.. well, we do learn to.. err..love them..like the weather!
As IannodaTruffe says, they are great for stamina and strength... I am forbidden hills for a while.. Physio instructions after a torn calf muscle..Hooray I said, where is the flat bit?
I love your, jalking pace too! Onward and errr.... upward
