Park run - brilliant

I wasn't smart, clever, swift, and I wasn't (quite) last! But it was great. Peacehaven Big Park is gorgeous- really, so are the people, so is the cafe, so is the breakfast. Thanks you collection of coaches - every pearl of experience and wisdom was useful. I joggled all the way (furthest ever) and did special lope across finish in lieu of sprint. This could be my Saturday fun from now on😜 - thanks encouragers! My red face in the cafe says it all. Big cheer for today's first time park runners and for hoverers: don't hesitate... get a barcode and go.

Aaaaaahh, now then, 50 runs earns you a red technical t-shirt, 100, black t-shirt, 250, green......they have the parkrun logo on and the number on the back....

There is also a fabulous purple one for volunteering 25 times....these are free, but you have to have completed the relevant number of runs/volunteers - the system keeps track of you.....

There are orange ones you can buy that support parkrun too, more info on those on the parkrun website - you can get them printed with your 'home run' name on, e,g Bushy Park...they do vests, normal short sleeve T, long sleeve, and running jacket......

You've now found one of the best inventions in the world, ever......happy days!

Aww well done! You look so happy. I shall have to run there when I next visit my parents xx

You will love it I'm sure. Interestingly the run 'director' was quite curious that I'd done C25k without being part of a running group (except virtually of course). There was at least one local running group there who turned up en masse and seemed to be doing C25k as a group. I don't know how these groups publicise this but it might suit some under-grads very well.

I don't know if you know this already, but you can register nhs c25k as your running group on your park run profile. It's on the list of running clubs.

Well done! Peacehaven is another possible for me. It's annoying not having one Parkrun on my doorstep - but I have about 8 within 20 miles so that's pretty cool. Did Eastbourne today - beautiful - recommend that one!

Well done Gilma. Photo says it all. I can understand it becoming addictive. Now the big question is try a different park run or the same one again........

I was at first shocked by all the score keeping, then thrilled to find I'd run at 44:49 and came a mere fourth from last. Then discovered that, for age and gender, I was placed second - and that excitement lasted till I realised there were only two VW64-69s in the race!!! πŸ˜‚ (I would like VW to mean vintage woman as that sounds collectible!!)
