Week 2 run 2

This running for 90secs is nearly killing me! I'm that red I look like I'm going to explode!

Please tell me others felt like this but have managed to improve....the 5k is seeming unachievable to me after today's run!

I am very overweight so should I expect it to take longer to improve than someone of a healthy weight?

I am on week 4 and just did run 2 this morning. I thought I was going to die when I started week 2!! 90 seconds seemed forever, and I think the red face is very common on here!! Now Im on week 4 the 5 min runs are killing me! And the 90 seconds and 3 min runs are much easier! So in my opinion it does get easier, I am about 3 stone overweight, and since I've started this program the weight is falling off (combined with healthy eating) I can't yet imagine myself running for 30 mins though!! Persevere with it, it does get easier :)

I have just completed W2 D2 this morning. It feels better than W1 to be honest and finding that my recover time at the end is improving. Still got the red face and breathing funny even when running 😄. I look at it thinking 30years ago this was a warm up before I started getting stuck in to the real work. It scares me sometimes how I have let my self get to this lack of fitness. I'm confident at some stage it will all fall into place soon without even realising it. Keep at it.

A tip I never listened to for the first two weeks was, don't run too fast. The moment I realised I was going like I was running after a bus and slowed down was the moment everything changed. Set off like you are going to run for 5k not 90 seconds. But yes, it hurts but it gets better.

Seriously I looked up shades of red on paint charts as I was that bad. Believe in it, it works and then in Week 3 you look back and are amazed that Week 2 was so hard... have a look at some other week 2 posts and I promise you, you aren't alone. Keep plugging away we are with you every step

It's not a race. No hurry. The slower the better. Slow runs will take you places 🙂

I have just finished week 5 and if someone told me at the beginning I would be able to run for 20 minutes I never would have believed them! I really struggled with the 90 second runs at first and would come home and google "beetroot face" as I was really self conscious however now I find it an achievement when I see my bright red face, means we've had a good work out!!

Stick with the programme and take it easy, before you know it you will be looking back with a big smile on your face at how far you've come!

All the best :)
