I know it's not about how far but the doing but was wondering what sort of distance are you doing in W5
How far: I know it's not about how far but the... - Couch to 5K
How far
I'm doing about 3.5k. My goal is to just get to 30 mins and then if the 5k follows, all well and good.
Don't get het up about speed or distance at this stage just concentrate on the time. At this time in your running career just go slow and steady. Once you have graduated and run for 30 minutes you can then decide what to work on - speed or distant depending on what you want to get out of running. For some people they are happy to 'just' run three times a week for 20-30 minutes while others want more of a challenge.
Enjoy the runs you do, achieve each step but don't put yourself under too much pressure otherwise you may cease to enjoy the experience.
It's all about how you feel when you get into it. The important part of this is to get comfortable physically and mentally. The route I use is 4.1km from home in a large figure of 8. In the first 3 weeks or so my 5 minute cool down walk finished about 4 minutes from home but that distance has closed over the last couple of weeks (I'm now into week 6) with the longer running times but without noticing any real difference in what I'm doing! I guess once you find a comfortable pace and rhythm the distance increases but that's for the future!
The advice on this site is fantastic and has kept me grounded. Hope you have a fun time doing this, I know I am!
