Wk4 complete!

As an asthma sufferer I have always avoided running assuming it would not be something I would ever be able to do but here I am 4 weeks down the line running for 5 minutes with controlled (almost) breathing. Looking forward to stepping up the game over the next couple of weeks here's hoping I can keep going!

You are exactly one week ahead of me I do W3 R3 tomorrow. Well done on the progress I'm jealous that you have controlled breathing especially as you suffer from asthma. I don't have any conditions, other than laziness and lack of fitness, so if you can keep going so can I. I just set out my running kit for tomorrow. Good luck with Week 5 keep on running....

Very well done! It must be an extra amazing feeling for someone with asthma to get on like you have. Hope you can keep on going, but must remember to keep it slow & steady, do not even think about going faster, your doing great as is!😊

Congratulations! I have a lung condition, and was actually told by my doctor a long time before C25K that running would improve my breathing. I wasn't convinced at the time; it turns out she was right, although there are a whole heap of other benefits too :)

A parkrunner I know - who now regularly runs 10K and further says that running has helped his asthma beyond belief

It is a common misconception that those with asthma cannot exercise. And as others have said - it helps asthma.

If you do start feeling wheezy with exercise (and only some asthmatics have exercise induced asthma) then just take you salbutamol (blue) inhaler before you start running - then you can keep going:)
