Arrgh! Got a full set

Have just read a lot of inspirational posts - thank goodness. All those aches, pains and niggles that I have given advice on, attacked me all at once today. I mean both hips, knee and ankles. Had to keep telling myself today it was because I was strengthening muscles that I need to run. Think I may seize up tonight :(

At least it will take my mind of my shoulder injury (old one from swimming) lol.

Not the best of runs today but that's life - good runs/bad runs; good swims/bad swims and good days/bad days. I'll just hope then next is a good one!

Thanks again for the support.

Hope you recover soon. I think we all have runs where we think it was rubbish but I think if we manage to get out the door and do our best we are winning every time. Am sure your next run will be much different. :-)

:-( It never ceases to amaze me how many muscles we under-use and then suddenly discover with a different activity. Guess that's why it's great to cover a variety, and why I wish I'd continued running alongside the horse riding.

Hopefully you're doing the very best for your body with swimming and running - sounds like a winning combination - in the long run anyway (pardon the pun!).

Sending pain-free thoughts and thanks.

You need to remember the MICE advice you are giving out!! I think it has probably all just caught up with you are you aren't exactly doing a small amount of swimming either. Maybe take a couple of days off running but do some walking instead?

I know - hopeless at taking my own advice (but my legs are up) - typical of a doc lol. It is since the 20mins at end of W5, so not a surprise really.

The swimming only hurts my right shoulder which is an old (?15yrs) injury.

As I open water swim, I don't really use my legs.

Not sure about the walking, before C25k, when I say i didn't run, I didn't really walk either! I am away at the weekend and so on Friday will take my other advice and listen to my body.

A doc once told me that walking is The best exercise. I'm not sure if he meant in general, or in my specific circumstances at the time. I was in there because I was broken at the time.

I think it is said to be because anyone (almost) can do it, you can do it almost anywhere, no equipment required and less scary idea than running.

I have heard the same for swimming, rowing and lots of others. I think the best exercise is the one that suits you and that you have a chance of enjoying because then you are more likely to keep doing it.

btw vacuuming is good exercise too!

They certainly were. I am better now unless I sit for too long then I go stiff again. For a while today I was dreading needing to go to the loo because the stairs were grueling lol. Tomorrow of course I may have stiffened again, at least the swim is in the evening.

Don't let the gremlins get you down - you're doing so well! It might be just psychological but I do like a hot bath with dead sea salts for soothing sore limbs - preferably with red wine & Ross Poldark (sadly only in literary form!).😁
