I blame Davina

First time back in the gym after a troublesome week. Decided in my wisdom yesterday to do a complete Davina workout which includes 15 mins of squats. I can run 5K and not ache, hammer it in the gym and not ache. But one little DVD and I'm crippled. To the point I could only run for 20 mins tonight and the leg weights killed me.

BUT, much as it may have affected tonight's run, it will make you a better runner. When I started adding spinning classes into the equation my legs got much stronger and my running became a little easier. You need to do strength work on your legs too - it will help you avoid injury and increase your stamina!

I do weights, cycling and rowing machine. But if it hurts I have to do it again until it doesn't hurt anymore. 🤗

After my first spinning class I was in considerable pain for a week!

But as I've recently discovered to my horror, you can become very fit at one thing, but still be an absolute beginner at something else.

I've been training in martial arts for a number of years. I can go solid at fancy kicking and punching combos for upwards of 3 hours with nothing more than a couple of quick swigs of water to keep me hydrated. Yet I can't run for 30 minutes in one go.

I think the moral is, if you want to be fit, you can't just do one thing.

Oh I know why I hurt, just not happy that I do. 😄
