So lucky with the weather

The summers in Munich tend to be hot, the winters cold. Last July my runs were short and exhausting. Sometimes I gave up and plodded back after no time at all. This year the trend continues, but I seem to have been really lucky with my Sunday runs. This morning I packed my water bottle, put my wrist bands on to mop my sweaty brow, kitted myself out with my lightest gear and stepped out of the door - to find it had started to rain. Wonderful, I thought - should I go back for a plastic bag for my mobile? No, I'm sure there is something in my running rucksack. And off I went.

It bucketed it down. I was soaked, drenched, absolutely dripping. You could wring my clothes out when I got home after a gentle 7k. But you know what, it was such fun and the minute I got home it stopped, the sun came out and we spent the afternoon at one of the many festivals in Munich in the blazing summer sun. I'm so glad it wasn't the other way round!

I am sooooo jealous! That sounds heaven 🙂 I'm struggling in the heat - heat rash, insect bites, no sleep, no energy, numerous showers, yuk. Winter needs to come ❄️❄️❄️

I thought I couldn't run in anything over 20 degrees C, but I can. However I really have been lucky with my Sunday runs, it rained last week aswell, if not quite so hard and it did the same a couple of weeks ago. I sneak out before the rest of the family are up, leaving the blinds down, so I don't know what to expect until I open the front door. There must be something about Sundays because it doesn't happen on the other days!

Lucky you! You got my rain! It was forecast to rain here yesterday, I was looking forward to it, and all I got was overcast and humid. Although it was relatively cool, it was certainly not running weather, like wading through treacle! I coming to think that full sun is better than this cloudy heavy stuff...

It's horrible isn't it? So damned humid, it just sucks the energy out of you. Rainy days are a gift for us runners at this time of year!
