Having completed W6R3 last Friday, I thought I'd take it a bit steadier today rather than trying to push myself too much (also first thing Monday morning!!)
TBH, the last 5 mins or so of W6R3 were quite a struggle; I'd eaten a banana (for energy!) about half an hour before, and felt slightly nauseous at one point towards the end ( probably better to have the banana AFTER rather than before!) Strava showed I had covered 4.4 kms, which was much further than previously.
So this morning I decided to ease up a little so as to finish with a bit more left "in the tank". No discomfort, no nausea ( empty stomach!) and covered 4.1 km (still the second greatest distance. I'm typically taking 7:50 to 8:00 per km, which would be a 5k in about 40 mins, and folks have told me this is a good time to aim for on your first parkrun.
The only real annoyance today was blinkin' traffic ( running round an industrial estate), so lots of traffic at junctions slowing me up ( like slowing down before a junction so the cars get past).
I've found a really nice circuit around a reservoir local to me that is 4.6 kms and NO TRAFFIC, just a well tarmacked path all the way. Might be a good one to do without disturbance.
