Hi there, for those who know me the title is very apt for me at the moment, but I know I'm not alone with the heat and those on the IC many of us can empathise with the title and for those running regularly and training for events it fits for you too, may we all be back running together soon.
Welcome to Week 1 Hope youre all doing okay.
What the quest is:-
The quest takes six weeks.
You can join any time within that six weeks.
The main aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
We ask that you are a graduate . The main reason we ask this is that while you are doing the program your plan is very structured, so we wouldn't want the quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:-
To run three times a week
To slowly increase distance
To train for a specific race
To add In Stretch and strength exercises
As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.
Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going
.
So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put
I would like to join the quest, or count me in and then I would like to. ..............
Your name will be added for the duration of the Quest.
Good Luck everybody !

As the title says I will ask that by the end of the quest I am running again, know I asked that last time but this time it might just happen ππββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
I am sure with your determined attitude and mindset , you will do your exercises to the letter , and I really hope you are back to running at the end of this Quest !
Please can you add me in Rfc . I have started my Marathon training so I am following a My Asics plan .
I really need to work on my physical ( and mental ! ) strength and stamina so I will be dusting the cobwebs off my Jillian Michaels DVD and giving it a go . She has been stood glaring at me with her arms crossed and tapping her foot so I really need to get my backside into gear !
Good Luck to all fellow Questers and sending love and hugs to all those on the IC and those going through tough times in their lives.
I would like to join the quest please. I'm currently on the IC and aim to be running again in 6 weeks. Feels like I'll never run again at the moment but need something to aim for. I've got tendinopathy of my hip so working hard with the physio! π
Welcome onboard, you can join our mini club with runswithdogs we are all working towards the same goal, your physios will give you excellent advice and know their stuff.
Welcome onboard, I'll share with you The advice my physio has given me, take as long as you need because starting too early will give you boom and bust which will set you back for longer. I know we will both get there when the time is right. π
I will continue running three times a week, one of those a parkrun if I can (holidays coming up may scupper that).
My quest is to do one longer run a week, building up to running 5 miles by the time I hit 60 - just under a month to get there.
At the same time continue to build my stamina so that the parkrun feels easier. Oh yes, breaking the 35 minute parkrun barrier would be a bonus, I am getting so close now.
Welcome onboard. Ooooo Birhtday girl within the Quest π ππΎ. I'm sure you will get there on the 5miles. Good luck with breaking the 35 min barrier, I always find Stregnth and core work are best for building speed rather than just running faster.πͺπͺπͺ.
Yes, I am using the Audiofuel Polyrunner cd. For each speed you have upto an hour in 10 minute sections with an optional 1 minute walk between each. I just set off and run as much as I want (usually a bit more than I planned). It seems to work better for me at the moment than a set programme.
Last Monday I managed to run the whole hour at 160bpm which took me to about 7km, then on Wednesday 30 minutes at 162 bpm. I was hoping to build on that today but it was so hot I just did a very gentle 4km listening to a local folk band.
Oh yes, I meant to add that I hope to do a 5k run with the Scapa Loop group when I am in Orkney, although it may well be just after this quest ends! Really looking forward to that one, I just love running by the sea and lochs.
Can I add another quick challenge? Running my first Junior parkrun tomorrow. As tailrunner, they are short of volunteers due to another event, so I put my name forward. My challenge is to keep up with the youngsters!
Have fun, It is such a great thing Parkrun is achieving for all age groups.
Please count me in. I would like to continue running 3xweek,mixing it up ,and increase distance from 5k to 10k.I also have a 5k RFL in two weeks so my aim is also to complete that in a reasonable time.
Yes Ive only done one that was a 2015 and you are quite right the atmosphere is brilliant! Last year I couldn't do it as I was away in France on that date,so looking forward to it this year! Yippee! Anyhoo! many thanks

Hi
I would like to run 2x 5K and 1x intervals (W1R1 running and jogging). I hope to be a bit faster by the end of the quest!
