I am a 42 year old unfit, over weight bloke who has a job related fitness test looming in about 10 weeks (level 54 bleep test) . I am hoping that this programme will give me the kick up the butt I need.

Welcome. It is a great plan, and it works. It will get you up to running for 30 mins by then. Best of luck and keep posting here. I tried many times in the past and failed, but thanks to everyone on this forum I was motivated to keep going this time. Best wishes and happy running.

I'm just 5 years younger at 37, I was on crutches 2 years ago for meniscus damage. I completed c25k last week and ran my 1st sub 30 minute 5k today, if I can do it, you can. Unfortunately, the only person who can give you a kick up the arse is you, if you want it, you WILL do it

Depends on just what you test will include. There is the matter of "specificity" when it comes to training for physical fitness. Training to be able to run for 30 minutes is great - but will that get you through your test???

I agree with Bazza1234 - as it's a test for your work, get specific. 10 weeks gives you a decent amount of time, but start NOW. Why not go to your local leisure centre/gym and get a personal trainer to set you (and monitor you) on a specific training programme? Shouldn't cost too much, I can get a personal trainer for about £25/hour. THEN, when you've passed that bleep test do the C25K programme - it's wonderful.

I agree get a trainer and go to the gym. I've recently lost 2 stone with a trainer.
