The couch to 5k app won't help with weight loss but will get you running and therefore more active.
There is a separate forum for weightloss. healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
Obviously losing weight is about expending more calories than you consume. Running will change your body and you will become sleeker and more toned. However you need to do a lot of running to start burning weight (just google 'how many calories burned running 5k'). You need to follow a healthy diet. Look at Michael Mosley's low carb plan (the blood sugar diet).
HOWEVER running will support your healthy eating plan and make you fitter, healthier and (maybe) happier. This programme will give you an enormous sense of achievement.
Go on, you know you want to.....

Combined with a healthy eating regime...this may help with the weight loss.. it will definitely help you feel fitter and stringer and much healthier
I think combined with a good weight loss diet it will help you lose weight for all sorts of reasons. You just have to watch out for the I did some running so I can eat a bit more today effect which is a well documented reason why exercise sometimes doesn't help you lose weight. But if the Sense of achievement helps you stay positive and stick to a diet then it's going to help. Doesn't really matter what diet as long as it's based on healthy food and you can stick to it.
